British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has agreed to resign after the barrage of resignations in his Executivein a conversation with the leader of the group of conservative deputies without portfolio, Graham Brady, according to the ‘BBC’.
A Downing Street spokesman, The Prime Minister’s Office said Johnson will address the nation on Thursday, July 7, 2022.
Johnson spoke with Brady, president of the so-called 1922 Committee, to tell him that he agreed to resign, and remain in charge of a provisional Executive until the conservatives choose their new leader.
The appointment of his successor at the head of the “tory” party (conservative), and therefore, of the British Executive, should be known before the conservatives celebrate their annual congress, scheduled for October, said a Downing Street source.

The announcement of Johnson’s upcoming resignation comes after a cascade of resignations unleashed last Tuesday after the resignation of the Economy ministersRishi Sunak, and Health, Sajid Javid, which lasted throughout July 6 and the morning of July 7.
Just minutes after the news broke, the new education minister, Michelle Donelan, had resigned after just 36 hours in office, and the new finance minister, Nadhim Zahawi, had asked her to “go now”.
Just 16 days shy of three years as prime minister, Johnson’s would be one of the shortest stays at Downing Street since 1900.
The new finance minister also asks Johnson to resign
The new British Chancellor of the Exchequer, Nadhim Zahawi, called on Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Thursday to “do the right thing” and submit the resignationafter deepening the crisis in the Conservative Executive of the United Kingdom.
Zahawi, former Minister of Education, had been appointed by Johnson as head of the Economy last Tuesday, after Rishi Sunak decided to withdraw from that portfolio in protest at the management of the “premier” and the recent scandals.
“This is unsustainable and will make it worse for you, the Conservative Party and most importantly the whole country. You must do the right thing and leave now,” Zahawi tweeted.
Shortly after, the new Minister of Education, Michelle Donelan, also resigned, while there are more and more voices within the Conservative Party calling for Johnson’s departure.
Meanwhile, the “Tory” prime minister refuses to resign and remains in the official Downing Street residence, without his spokespersons so far having ruled on the steps to follow.
There are already more than 50 members of the Johnson Government who have resigned and, as commentators point out, the prime minister may be left without supportive deputies willing to fill vacant portfolios.

This Thursday, July 7, the Minister for Northern Ireland, Brandon Lewis, also resigned, who said he “deeply” regretted having to leave the Government, but that “honesty, integrity and mutual respect” are expected from an Executive.
In addition, the Secretary of State for Security, Damian Hinds, and the Secretary of State for the Treasury, Helen Whately, resigned.
The now former Secretary of State for Security called for a change of leadership in the Conservative Party for the good of “the country and confidence in our democracy.”
While, Helen Whately acknowledged that she had supported Johnson’s policies, but that the prime minister’s apologies to the country for the scandals had reached their limit.
Faced with the current crisis, the influential 1922 Committee, which brings together conservative deputies without portfolio, is preparing a modification of its rules to hold another internal motion of censure against Johnson in order to force the prime minister out.
Johnson argues that he has strong support from the electorate after winning a majority in the 2019 general election, but the UK political system requires that a party leader can form a government if he has the support of his parliamentary group, something that clearly has been eroded.
