Milano Ristorazione provides about 80,000 meals a day, guaranteeing – among others – the school catering service for nursery schools, public kindergartens, primary and lower secondary schools as well as the catering service for nursing homes (RSA) and the elderly with home service.
However, following an unfortunate episode, president Bernardo Notarangelo, who has been leading the company for 4 years, resigned, while assuring his willingness to stay on until a replacement is appointed. This is because the little one found a metal bolt inside a sandwich from a packed lunch served to a student of the Milanese school Rinnovata Pizzigoni, risking ingesting it or injuring himself.
Notarangelo wrote a letter apologizing: “I have two wonderful children, now grown up, who like you attended the public schools of Milan and ate the meals of Milano Ristorazione. When I learned about the sandwich I thought of you and I thought of them. Responsibilities will be ascertained, but that screw in your sandwich shouldn’t have been there”.
An incident that represented a “blow to the heart”, Notarangelo now hopes that his successor will continue “successfully along the difficult path, especially in a public company, aimed at combining striving for results, justice, transparency in choices, recognition of merit, formal rigour”.
