Bolivia.- The Bolivian Minister of Health, Jeyson Auza, has officially declared the beginning of a fifth wave of coronavirus in the country after infections have increased by 24 percent in the last week.
As pointed out by the person in charge of the health portfolio, in the last week more than 1,600 cases have been reported, with an increase of 308 positives compared to the previous week. “We declare the beginning of the fifth wave in Bolivia“, has said.
According to the balance offered by Auza, the departments most affected by this increase in infections are La Paz, Beni, Pando, Cochabamba, Tarija and Oruro; while Santa Cruz, Chuquiasca and PotosÃ, however, have registered slight decreases, reports the newspaper ‘El Deber’.
Minister Auza has highlighted the government’s strategy to put a stop to the coronavirus Well, according to him, the lethality of the virus has been reduced from the 6.2 percent registered in the first wave, to 0.6 percent in the fourth outbreak that emerged in the nation.
“The fourth wave has been of greater number of cases, but with the lowest lethality and deaths. The indicators have been successful and we plan to replicate them in the fifth wave,” Auza remarked, thus praising epidemiological surveillance and vaccination campaigns.
