BMW presented the new range M8 Competition, with the presence of three different types of bodywork: Convertible, Coupé and Gran Coupé. And announces that in the spring of 2022, BMW M GmbH will further refine the profile of its luxury high-performance sports cars through targeted design changes and optimized operation.
Thanks to the newly developed bodywork, each of the three top-of-the-range models conveys a different expression. The main common features are the drive and chassis technology. The cars are powered by a V8 engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology, with maximum output of 625hp and maximum torque of 750Nm. Thanks to the typical M high rotational speed, the engine develops high drive torque over wide load ranges, which is transferred to the road via an 8-speed M Steptronic gearbox with Drivelogic and the M xDrive all-wheel drive system. The acceleration from standstill to 100 km / h is remarkable: in just 3.2 seconds for the BMW M8 Competition Coupé and Gran Coupé) and 3.3 seconds for the Cabrio.
The body paint program update includes, for the first time, eight versions available for the three models. The new range includes Skyscraper Gray Metallic, Brooklyn Gray Metallic and Isle of Man Green Metallic exterior colors as well as BMW Individual Tansanite Blue Metallic paintwork. In addition, there are four new versions of the high-quality Frozen finishes available which, with their opacity reminiscent of silk, enhance the modern design language of the BMW M8 models to the maximum. BMW Individual special finishes Frozen Pure Gray Metallic, Frozen Deep Gray Metallic, Frozen Deep Green Metallic and Frozen Tanzanite Blue Metallic are also available.
The chassis technology of the new BMW M8 models includes electronically controlled shock absorbers and an electromechanical M Servotronic steering system, as well as an integrated brake system that allows the display of two versions of the pedal. This allows the rider to choose between a comfort-oriented pedal feeling and a sportier one. As an alternative to the standard M Compound brake system, an M Carbon ceramic brake is available as an option. The standard equipment also includes 20-inch M light alloy wheels equipped with high-performance tires in the sizes 275/35 R 20 at the front and 285/35 R 20 at the rear. Other M light alloy wheels in the same format are available as special equipment, including a new variant with a sunburst design and in two-tone black / gray.
On board the new BMW M8 models, Merino / Alcantara leather upholstery, M sport seats and wrap-around M Carbon seats are standard. It is now also available for the first time in the Black / Sakhir Orange color scheme. In addition, the black Alcantara upholstery in all versions of this equipment is now extended to the dashboard and to the upper areas of the door sills.
