The head of the US State Department, Anthony Blinken, assured Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of continuing the line of strengthening Ukrainian energy security on the American side. This was announced on Tuesday, November 2, by the press service of the US State Department.
“He (Blinken – Ed.) Welcomed Ukraine’s steps against corruption, and stressed that the United States, together with allies and partners, will continue to strengthen Ukraine’s energy security, including by reducing the risks posed by the Nord Stream 2 pipeline,” said State Department Press Officer Ned Price.
Blinken and Zelenskiy met on the sidelines of the United Nations (UN) Climate Change Conference COP26 in Glasgow. The head of the US Foreign Office confirmed to the President of Ukraine support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country, the State Department added.
“We talked about military-defense cooperation, problems in the energy sector. The United States firmly supports the territorial integrity of Ukraine, highly appreciates the progress in reforms and a firm commitment to their implementation, ”Volodymyr Zelenskyy wrote about the meeting with Blinken on his Twitter.
Earlier that day, information came from Glasgow that Zelensky’s stated speech did not take place. When he was invited to speak by the moderator of the event, the US President’s Special Envoy for Climate Affairs John Kerry, the Ukrainian president was not at the microphone.
At the same time, the leader of Ukraine found time to meet with US President Joe Biden, and joint photos from the climate summit in Glasgow became the topic of discussion on the Web – they were attracted by the unusual look of their American colleague on Zelensky.
