That dense dialogue
At the end of the qualifications of Bahrain, in which Max Verstappen had snatched the 33rd pole position of his career, the Dutch champion he spent time exchanging a few words with the president of the FIA, Mohammed Ben Sulayem.
The conversation, with the two covering their mouths to protect themselves from prying eyes, was quite intense and Verstappen's face was certainly not the most relaxed.
Explanation
The Dutch newspaper reported what happened in those moments De Telegraafwho has always been close to the events of the Verstappen family.
“Apparently, after qualifying on Friday, Mohammed Ben Sulayem approached Max Verstappen in Parc Fermé. The president covered his mouth, convinced not to be intercepted by anyone who could read his lips, but he forgot about the positioned photographers no more than two meters from the scene”explained Erik Van Haren.
And the content of the speech was definitely surprising: “Ben Sulayem asked Verstappen to publicly express his support for Christian Horner“, after the conclusion of the internal investigation at Red Bull and the diffusion of the alleged confidential chats.
Second De Telegraaf, Max Verstappen it would not have beenmade fun of” And he would have given a clear refusal to the FIA president. In fact, a few minutes later in the press conference Max did not directly respond with “Yes” or a “no” to the question: “Do you still have faith in Christian Horner?”making extensive use of political jargon.
The BBC version
Andrew Benson of BBC gave a slightly different version of the story, confirming Ben Sulayem's request for Verstappen to publicly support Horner, but placing it temporally after the press conference in which Max had essentially made melina.
