The BBR Mazda MX-5 Supercharged is exactly what you want, right?
It’s the eternal discussion: is a Mazda MX-5 powerful enough? On the one hand, the philosophy of the car is that it is as simple as possible, on the other, speed is a really important part of a sports car.
At BBR-GTI (British Brodie Racing) they think a little extra power is not a bad option for the MX-5. They have been upgrading the Mazda MX-5 since the early 1990s. At BBR they go just a little bit further than a chip, exhaust and spoiler. In many cases, they offer turbo or supercharger conversion kits.

In this case, it concerns the fourth generation of the Mazda MX-5, the ND generation. They have supercharger kits on offer for that. They had them for a while, but they have been improved and that means: more power! The nice thing is that BBR GTI offers these for the models before the facelift: so from 2015 to 2019.
There are two kits available and in both cases the base is a Rotrex compressor that you can stick on the SkyActive 2.0. The entry-level kit provides a power increase to 225 hp and 270 Nm, a big difference from 160 hp and 200 Nm.
In addition to a compressor, you get a new K&N induction kit, BBR dump valve and an ECU that ensures that the parts work well together. This provides significant improvements in performance. Sprinting from 0-96 km/h is now completed in 5.3 seconds.
Stage 2
Then there is a second variant called Stage 2. This consists of a Forge Motorsport intercooler and a sports exhaust. This results in even more power: 250 hp. The torque also increases: 298 Nm. Now you can accelerate from 0-96 km/h in 5.1 seconds.
Then the prices of all this beauty. Stage 1 will cost you £3,895 if you can install it yourself, or £4,795 if BBR can do it. Stage 2 is considerably more expensive: 5,395 euros loose or 5,990 mounted.

That is not dirt cheap, but with the low pound it is relatively not so bad. You get significantly better performance in return. It’s not that you can progress from a Mazda MX-5 to a slightly faster or better car these days. Then you will soon end up with a (considerably more expensive) Porsche Boxster.
Finally, BBR is a highly respected shop that know what they are doing. Many British Mazda dealers used to be able to order the kits. BBR provides a 12-month warranty their upgrades.
