“For the 5 Star Movement there are no conditions to seriously hold the primaries“. This is what the leader of the M5S Giuseppe Conte said today in Bari. “To a first judicial investigation, a second investigation is added today in which vote swapping is involved, things that we have been denouncing for some time”, says the leader of the Movement after the ten precautionary measures, of which one in prison, seven under house arrest and two residence bans in the Municipality of Triggiano. The measures were carried out by the carabinieri of the Bari provincial command and the judicial police section in a investigation by the Bari Prosecutor's Office.
“We believe that the reasons that that pushed us to support the candidate Laforgia remain, indeed, they are strengthened” says Conte. “We will discuss with the political and civic forces of the coalition to try to tackle the electoral campaign for Bari in the name of a new beginning, of a strengthening of the safeguards of legality, of maximum transparency”.
“Will we go split up? No, we are for a unified spirit, we have always been loyal” he adds. “All forces know our DNA, our objectives and the indispensable conditions for working together. I anticipated our determination to the other political forces” on the primaries and “we will explain our regions to the people of Bari”.
''The group serves to plan together, in constant dialogue with the local communities. For too long people have seen the Movement on television, in the few moments they allowed us. Today the 5 Star Movement must be seen in the squares, in the streets, in the cities, on the stages. We must make ourselves heard''.
Nazareno Sources: “M5S choice to exit primaries incomprehensible, no to morality lessons”
“Conte's choice to exit the primaries is incomprehensible” sources from the Nazarene report. “If the 5 Star Movement thinks it can win on its own against the right, go ahead. But have respect for the city of Bari, for the center-left voters and don't think you're giving morality lessons to anyone.” “The Democratic Party remains alongside Bari which has already demonstrated how important the Democratic Party is as a safeguard of legality and good administration. We are certain that the Democratic Party together with the centre-left will win the elections again against this right”.
Laforgia: “There are no conditions for canceling the primaries or taking steps backwards”
“Today there are no conditions for not holding primaries or for taking steps backwards” said Michele Laforgia, one of the two candidates of the centre-left coalition for the office of mayor of Bari, regarding the primaries which had been scheduled for Sunday 7 April (the opponent is Vito Leccese of the Democratic Party). “If anything, what has happened pushes us to take further steps forward” he concludes.
