Stefano Bandecchi withdraws his resignation as mayor of Terni. And he challenges Fratelli d'Italia for the race to the European Championships
Yet another twist for the city of Terni. Mayor Stefano Bandecchiwho announced his resignation less than two weeks ago, has changed his mind. Affaritaliani.it collected the immediate declarations of the mayor of the Umbrian municipality.
Bandecchi, what has changed since February 8th?
What has changed is that the political campaign implemented by the opposition was so strong, decisive and significant that it convinced me: I could not leave the city of Terni and the nation of Italy in the hands of runaways.
Other?
In addition to this there is the amendment presented yesterday by the Brothers of Italy in the Senate, which should change the rules for presenting themselves at the European elections. An amendment that I would call the “Bandecchi amendment” which is very serious for national democracy. I am very worried about the democratic stability of Italy, given this right-wing government: I find this amendment inappropriate, especially two months after the presentation of the electoral lists.
And the internal disagreements within Alternativa Popolare?
They have all been resolved. Mine wanted to be a shock for mine too, and I succeeded. Nothing changes within the council, we move forward. I aim to ensure that my party goes to the EU.
A comment on being investigated for resisting a public official?
The mayor, within the city council, is the first public official of that room, therefore if he is attacked by multiple people he defends himself! But, in fact, I don't have much respect for the judiciary, so I wasn't too surprised to hear the news. I don't believe much in justice in Italy.
