With a straight of 2200 meters and many other sections where top speed is important, the teams in Baku obviously brought some heavily drained rear wings aerodynamically at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
The configuration is similar to the one that was chosen for the Miami Grand Prix a month ago at the beginning of May on the occasion of the fifth race of the championship, unlike what happened in Florida, for the Azerbaijani track. it does not have wide-ranging technical curves as was the case in the first sector of the circuit built around the Hard Rock Stadium. Obviously the wings have only minimal adjustments compared to the specimens already used in Saudi Arabia since due to the budget cap it is not possible to present specific pieces for each appointment.
In addition to the wings it will be interesting to know what the decisions of the teams will be at the level of power unit. Max Verstappen is still stuck at power unit ‘1’ in all four components (endothermic V6 engine, turbo, MGU-H and MGU-K) while Charles Leclerc and Ferrari will most likely introduce turbo and MGU-H number three.
Below is the overview of the rear wings of all ten teams through the tweets published by the Spanish journalist Albert Fabrega. In comparative it is interesting to note the differences in airfoils, the ‘step’ towards the outside is very marked in the case of Ferrari, Aston Martin, Haas and Red Bull, while Mercedes does not have this characteristic.
