Awards Seela Sella is the cultural person of the year – the cultural gala was held in Tampere for the first time

The first The awards of the Cultural Gala, which was held for the first time, have been handed out in Tampere at Mediapolis. The event was seen live on Thursday night on Yle TV1.

Finnish culture was widely awarded at the cultural gala. The purpose of the event is to reward deeds, works and authors that have something new, original or important. In addition, the aim of the event is to strongly involve the audience: the audience was allowed to vote for both the cultural figure of the year and the cultural act of the year.

For the cultural person of the year, the audience voted the actor out of ten candidates Seela Sellan, who has been active as an advocate of culture during the Korona period.

The Evening with Nightwish in a Virtual World event, which featured two consecutive virtual concerts by Nightwish in May 2021, was nominated for the Cultural Heritage of the Year nomination.

The Lifetime Achievement Award went to a poet who died in November Kirsi Kunnas as well as an interior designer and designer Eero Aarnio.

Received the Internationality Award Juho Kuosmasen controlled by Cabin No. 6 film, which was awarded the Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival in July 2021.

The Future of Culture incentive award went to a film screenwriter and director Khadar Ahmed (b. 1981), conductor and cellist Klaus Mäkelä (b. 1996) and a poet and founding member of the Academy of Stage Poetry Elsa Tölli (b. 1995).

About the art experience of the year schoolchildren voted as part of the Art Testers cultural education program funded by the Finnish Cultural Foundation, the Swedish Cultural Foundation and the Ministry of Education and Culture. The winner was the Hämeenlinna Theater A play that goes wrong.

Composer receives the Hall of Fame recognition award from the selection committee of the Finnish Music Honorary Gallery Kaj Chydenius, Dingo band, conductor, composer and musician George de Godzinsky, singers Eino Grön, Paula Koivuniemi, Erja Lyytinen, Annikki Tähti and Pave Maijanen, musician, teacher, critic and composer Oskar Merikanto as well as the conductor Jorma Panula.

The Hospital Welfare Association of the Hospital Clowns received the Culture Welfare Award.

The Museum City of the Year is Turku, the jury voted for the candidates selected by the Culture Gala Award Committee.

Vanni was also launching the Sports Gala in 2008 and three years ago the Century Culture Gala, which was part of the official Finland 100 program.
