The Japanese took a double victory and Sweden opened its medal account at the World Athletics Championships in the men’s 20 km walk.

Toshikazu Yamanishi and Chef Ikeda fled Sweden Perseus from Karlstömwho lost the gold by 11 seconds and the silver by just four seconds.
