Lotta Kemppinen was a big surprise a year ago in the athletics hall when he ran the European Championship silver in the hall at 60 meters.

On Saturday, Kemppinen started his strong season this year in Kuopio, where he won his third consecutive Finnish championship at 60 meters.

A year ago, Kemppinen’s championship was in the SE with a time of 7.16. In Kuopio, the winning time was 7.26 seconds, which was not satisfactory. The European Championship silver time was 7.22.

“The run itself was relaxed, but 60 meters is a small catch. The start was not convincing now, although it has been successful in training. I couldn’t make an effort from the racks at the right angle, ”Kemppinen said.

On the outdoor tracks, Kemppinen is also a three-time Finnish champion, but by a hundred meters.

Kemppinen plans to culminate his hall season, which began on Saturday, at the World Championships in Belgrade in March. Before that, he will still be competing in Paris on March 6th.

“I have always been successful in value competitions. I think there is a lot going on in the World Cup halls. ”

Kemppinen was selected for the Tokyo Olympics last summer, where he had to miss out because of a leg injury. The Helsinki resident took a two-month break and returned as the winner of the Kaleva Games in August.

“Due to the injury, the running technique broke down a bit and had to be retrieved. In Tokyo, I would have run from 11.21 to 11.25 in a hundred, ”Kemppinen said.

Kemppinen’s record at one hundred is 11.33.

“Fortunately, there will be more competitions next summer.”

This season Kemppinen and his coach Mervi Brandenburg have applied strength to the runner’s legs, which should specifically improve the starting position.

Samuli Samuelsson won the men’s 60 meters with a time of 6.73 before Samuel Purolaa (6.75). Samuelsson, who works as an optician in between, took his fourth consecutive championship in the hall. A year ago, his winning time was 6.66.

The runners’ hands hit each other at 45 meters.

“It was no small contact. Thank you for the narrow tracks in Kuopio Hall, ”said Purola.

Milja Thureson pinches off the other track to run away from the women in the 400 meters. Mette Baas was fourth and Aino Pulkkinen (right) third.

SM halls the toughest times of the opening day were seen in the 400-meter runs. Women runners on the oversized (359 meters) track of Finland’s toughest control.

The women’s top four underperformed Milja Thurensonin led by long hallways for the former best time that was Kirsi Mykkänen run 53.37.

Thureson’s payout time was 53.30. Viivi Lehikoinen ran 53.28, Aino Pulkkinen 53.29 and Mette Baas 53.30. Times are promising for the 4 x 400 meter message selection for next summer’s European Championships. Recordable government results will only be accepted on the 200-meter track.

Viljami Kaasalainen ventilated his first Finnish championship with 400 meters. JKU’s teammate Konsta Alatupa and Noormarkun Nopsan Asseri Välimäki (right) congratulate.

Moved from short express trips to 400 meters Viljami Kaasalainen ran a record of 47.18. Kaasalainen ‘s goal is to be the first Finnish runner in the summer to be 47 seconds lower than in 2010.

“If I don’t fall short, I promise to do some trick. I will move to 1,500 meters, ”Kaasalainen said in a crisp way.

Joonas Rinne manages middle distance running in Finland.

Jonah The slope already took his sixth indoor championship in the hall when he was number one at 1,500 meters.

In Finnish terms, the final was good: four runners under three minutes and 50 seconds. The winning time on the slope was 3.46.17.

“The step was delicate and good-natured,” said Rinne, who is aiming for his seventh Championship gold at 800 meters on Sunday.

“It’s going to be chased.”

The goals of the slope are in next summer’s championships, mainly in the European Championships, where a Finnish male runner was last seen at 800 meters twelve years ago. Mikko Lahtio was in the early rounds in Barcelona in 2010.

Last season, Rinne was just six hundredths of a hundredth of the second-hand European Championship limit at 800 meters in time for 1.45.96.

If an athlete breaks the race limit, he will receive a direct seat to the European Championships. Otherwise, he will have to collect points from the rankings.

“In one run, you can’t basically get to the races. Must succeed in other competitions as well and show consistency. We are working hard towards that. Intact training sessions begin to recur and become those successes. I think I still have a lot to give, ”says 26-year-old Rinne.
