Other than Bologna Città 30. A motorist was in fact caught in recent days on the A24 Rome-L'Aquila-Teramo motorway speeding almost 230 km/h229 to be precise: exceeding the maximum permitted speed limit which came close to 100 km/h, and which led immediately upon collection of the driving licence by the L'Aquila West Polstrada department.
Five more arrested
According to what was reported by Ansa, the police forces in question were engaged in a specific service to combat speeding with the aid of the equipment telelaser. Service which led to the detection of extremely high travel speeds: the above case of almost 230 km/h is the most obvious one, but it should also be mentioned five other motorists who were caught traveling above the permitted limit, two of these at over 180 km/h.
Telelaser and speed cameras
The use of the telelaser was therefore decisive in this case. And speaking of telelaser And Speed Cameras in general, in a statement separate from the cases of exceeding the speed limits on the A24 mentioned above, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure confirmed its orientation in avoiding that these devices represent a hidden tax. “Speed detectors must be a valuable tool for preventing accidents, not a way to make money”we read in a note from MIT.
