Asus Zenbook 14 is without a doubt one of the most discussed innovations in the panorama laptops of 2024. Only now, after having had the opportunity to try it, we felt ready to tell you about the product in our full review. Before starting, however, we remind you that if you want to purchase the product, you will have to go there on the dedicated website.
Unboxing and features
Before getting into the heart of the review, it is worth talking in a little more detail about what will actually arrive at your home. Once the box is opened, in addition to our 90 piece, we will find the manuals and obviously the dedicated charger.
Asus Zenbook 14 is a laptop OLED which exploits the “news of the moment” and that is the Ultra Processor from Intel (specifically a Core 7 155H). Now, we could spend hours debating this topic here, but it is not the right place to do it. To sum it all up, the Ultra Processor family is undoubtedly the Intel’s new flagshipas unlike the usual processors as we are used to imagining them, it also exploits an AI-based unit which promises to drastically improve usage performance.
The promise is obviously kept as we will see from the benchmarks, but in any case this small parenthesis had to be opened. Apart from this, we will also have available a 120Hz 3K screen, a 75Wh batterya backlit keyboard, up to 32GB of RAM and 1TB of M.2 4.0 SSD.
We then have a USB 3.2 port, 2 Thunderbolt ports, 1 HDMI 2.1 port and an audio jack port. We are faced with a premium product, designed for those who have to work or in any case need a significant boost. But beyond the paper, it’s time to see how this laptop fares in the field.
Asus Zenbook 14, our test
After a challenging configuration phase of the Asus Zenbook 14, a classic of Asus products, I finally came into possession of this laptop. I want to start by saying right away that I tested the Asus Zenbook 14 in various fields, first and foremost as far as I’m concerned: convenience of use. We have in our hands a featherweight 1.2 kg and 14.9 mm. Putting it in your backpack will be like not having it.
And once you take it out, you will immediately feel that you have a premium product in your hands. The details are all there, starting from the fact of how to open the laptop just one finger will be enough, without having to keep the rest of the computer still on the table. I know they are subtleties, but they make the difference in this type of product!
Once turned on, we can count on the classic IR sensor with face detection. Unfortunately no thought was given to inserting the fingerprint which I personally prefer. Despite this, nothing to say about the camera that takes care of the unlocking. It works perfectly in almost every condition. I was more than positively impressed by it.
I said before that this laptop promises pretty good power, so the time has come to talk about it performance. Specifically, here I have the version with in my hands 16 GB Of RAM and Ultra 7 155H processor which in itself, as we can see, is highly appreciated.
Doing some tests with Geekbench 6, this Asus showed a solid 1452 Single-Core Score and a 9006 Multi-Core Score. This is a very good result, not to be underestimated, and is certainly capable of giving some competitors a hard time. In daily use then, obviously Asus Zenbook 14 it won’t give you any kind of problem, it is superfluous to even mention it. Everything will always be immediate and responsive, thanks to the excellent work done by the manufacturer.
However, what intrigued me most once I read the specifications of the laptop is obviously the GPU sector, so I wanted to do some tests here too. Let’s say that you can even think about playing, obviously with the right compromises, but in any case it is a significant plus given that it is not a product designed for this purpose. Despite this, still the laptop it never heats up excessively and this reassures me a lot about the optimization thought.
A small side note is undoubtedly the one relating to the fingerprint issue. Unfortunately, the material used for the construction of this product makes it too sensitive to fingerprints and every time you take the laptop, you will end up filling it with fingerprints. (we attach a photo)
A few words must be said about the battery, which the manufacturer declares to be resistant until 3pm. Obviously this depends on how you decide to use the product. As an average, certainly we exceed 9 hours, we settle at 12 in the most stressful situations. In line with what was declared, also considering that we are faced with a 120Hz OLED which among other things offers a truly interesting graphic rendering capable of impressing the user.
We need to make a small mention of the price issue, which at the time of the review stands at around 1400 euros. Without a doubt, a product that is not within everyone’s reach and which must be purchased with awareness of its pros and above all its cons. In the workplace for example, as already mentioned, it translates into a compact, light and transportable laptop. Without a doubt an indispensable travel companion.
