ASUS teases the ROG Phone 8 Pro's multi-core Geekbench 6 score, with results that surpass Apple's iPhones.
Today at CES in Las Vegas, at midnight local time, ASUS will present the new ROG Phone 8.
This introduction will add another piece to the family of gaming smartphonea category that is currently limited but is clearly growing.
Recently, the company has put everything in place in preparation for the launch of its very first series of devices with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3and seems ready to ignite any rivalries with iPhone users too.
ASUS has in fact begun to leak details on the performance of the next top of the range model, starting with the results Geekbench 6 multi-core.
The teaser released reveals that the ROG Phone 8 Pro has scored multi-core of 7,422surpassing anything achieved by the A17 Pro on the iPhone 15 Pro or iPhone 15 Pro Max.
However, it is not surprising that the company has not revealed the single-core score of its next flagship model, considering that Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 has never been able to surpass Apple's A series, which instead has always found its strong point.
Core issues
To keep in mind, is that Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is equipped with a 8-core CPU clustercompared to competitor Apple's 6-core configuration.
As a result, Qualcomm's flagship should have a clear advantage in multi-threaded workloads on paper.
Another reason behind the high score could be linked to the fact that, as a smartphone dedicated to gaming, ROG Phone 8 Pro is probably equipped with a robust steam cooling system.
The latter may affect the overall size and weight of the product, but improves the performance of the SoC in extended usage sessions.
However, it is common for companies to publish performance numbers based on tests conducted in environments that are not always in real-world use.
“Real life” tests from reviewers and users will be necessary to evaluate whether ROG Phone 8 Pro can obtain similar results within an acceptable margin of error, and in this regard you will be able to find the product review on our pages in the next few days since it is already in our clutches.
ROG in pole position
Apple's A17 Pro demonstrated overheating problems when subjected to demanding games like Genshin Impact, resulting in a drop in performance.
This is probably caused by the fact that Apple tried to skimp on a proper cooling system for its chip, while ASUS seems to have given full attention to this detail in ROG Phone 8 Pro, thus explaining those extraordinary multicore results.
Furthermore, ROG Phone 8 Pro has momentarily reached the top of the list AnTuTu ranking with a score of 2,290,773, but was surpassed by the OnePlus 12, also equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, which achieved a score of 2,334,361.
Both devices come with 24GB of RAM.
