One of the new features recently announced by Sony is Astro Bot, a new platform and action game in development at Team Asobi. We know that the game will include over 80 levels, but this figure is only valid for launch. In fact, it seems that the company has planned to expand the game with free content.
Speaking to IGN USA, Nicolas Doucet – head of Team Asobi – has revealed some details regarding these extras.

Nicolas Doucet said that a possible free DLC for Astro Bot. The release date will not be too far from the release of the base game. Doucet said it will rely on adding more levels/challenges to the game – shorter levels focused on specific platformer challenges – but it won’t be the only component.
Doucet didn’t provide further details on what might be in these additions, but we can speculate. For example, they could arrive new charactersperhaps also inspired by non-Sony works in the form of a cross-over collaboration.
Doucet said PlayStation had “completely opened the door” to any characters Team Asobi wanted to include in the game, and internal studios even sent out requests barrage for their characters’ presence.
The fact that Astro Bot is receiving free DLC makes sense, given that Astro’s Playroom also recently received an update with new content. Several new achievements have popped up across its PlayStation-themed worlds, leading to a countdown to Astro Bot’s September 6 release date.
