Elements of the Mexican Army deactivated a fragmentation grenade located inside an armored truck, abandoned by alleged hitmen while they were fleeing from the authorities on a highway in Tamaulipas.
The discovery occurred last Sunday on the federal highway Reynosa- Monterrey, at the height of the Private subdivision of the Hacienda.
It was State Police agents who discovered the explosive device inside the Suburban truck, around 11:00 a.m., and requested the intervention of elements of the Mexican Armywho were in charge of deactivating the grenade.
According to authoritiesthe truck had been abandoned by alleged hitmen in their attempt to escape from a police chase, after a series of confrontations and chases between security forces and members of organized crime.
Alleged hitmen, finding themselves cornered and at risk of being captured, the men chose to abandon the truck next to the grenade.
