Identical podium but different stories between Superpole Race and Race 2 in today’s Aragon Round, in both cases closed with the victory of the home idol Alvaro Bautista. The Spaniard, who had not achieved a personal success before this Sunday from Assen, repeated himself in the afternoon once again in front of Toprak Razgatlioglu and Nicolò Bulegawhich with this result sees BMW’s Turkish rival move further and further away in the world rankings.
Race report
After the official announcement of Alex Lowes’ unfit following his fall in the Superpole Race (as happened yesterday to his brother Sam) and the start delayed by a few minutes due to an accident in Supersport 300, the first three positions on the starting grid they remained unchanged for almost the entire first lap, at least until Iannone overtook Bulega for third position. Demonstrating the difficulties of the #11 Ducati, there was a long run on the following lap, which pushed the Emilian rider down to ninth position. From that moment on, a long and constant comeback began for the title contender, finishing in third place, behind the duo of Bautista and Razgatlioglu. The two, after having created a gap on their pursuers, consistently achieved fast laps with a very small gap, but never overtook each other during the 18 laps in total. A less spectacular race than the Superpole Race, but which brought another joy to Bautista, as well as Razgatlioglu’s third consecutive podium on his return after the injury suffered at Magny-Cours which had kept him away from the races in France and Cremona .
