Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and within the framework of the Poetry Forums Initiative in Africa, which toured several African capitals, the Republic of Senegal witnessed yesterday the launch of the first edition of the Arabic Poetry Forum in Senegal, organized by the Department of Culture In Sharjah, in cooperation with the Islamic Institute in the capital, Dakar.
Othman Bah, representative of the Senegalese Minister of Education, stressed in a speech that Sharjah, with its cultural action that extends around the world, confirms its noble and sincere message of culture, civilization, science, literature and the arts, noting that cooperation with Sharjah is a cultural milestone in Senegal, because of the emirate’s global importance, and most prominently The forum is a great opportunity for creators of the Arabic language in Senegal, as it is a unique event and the first of its kind in the country.
Mohamed Al-Hadi, cultural coordinator in Senegal, said: “We thank His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, as His Highness has consistently supported science, culture and literature in more than one country, and made Sharjah a cultural beacon that shines on all parts of the world.” He continued: “We can say that Senegalese speaking poets The Arabic language is in a cultural safe after the great care and support from Sharjah.”
10 poets from different parts of the country participated in the forum, they are: Al-Haj Mud Sakh, Abd Al-Ahad Al-Kjouri, Tal Kseh, Ali Beh, Hama Allah Sou, Nafisa Bosso, Ibn Hawa Toure, Malik Sek, Sheikh Omar Niang and Muhammad Abdullah Job, while He introduced the readings to the Senegalese poet Abdel Karim Ghaye, who gave the platform to the creators, where they recited their poems with splendor, creativity and beauty.
