Although the experience with the headset has been described as exciting, many Apple Vision Pro users are now looking to return the product.
At the beginning of the month, Apple finally launched its in the US most awaited product of recent years: the Apple Vision Pro headset.
Many of those who had the opportunity to try it said they were amazed by the calculation capabilities of the “space computer”.
However, the initial enthusiasm around this futuristic device seems to have already run out.
The introduction of Vision Pro sparked huge anticipation, with crowds of enthusiasts gathering outside US Apple Stores at dawn to try it out for themselves.
But even today, inlast day to return the product for those who purchased it on day-one, an equally high turnout is expected.
The return period provided by Apple is 14 days from purchase.
It appears that many disappointed shoppers are using this window to get their money refunded.
There are many problems
The seemingly bulky design of the device is one of the main points of criticism.
Farzad Mesbahi, known on YouTube for his technology videos, admitted that he couldn't imagine using the new headset for long periods, as happens with smartphones, tablets and computers.
He added that while you can wear it comfortably, it can be uncomfortable support the weight of the device on your head and face.
But the criticisms were not limited only to the wearability issue.
Mesbahi wrote that the device's ability to overlay virtual apps on the user's line of vision is “not good” when it comes to clearly observing the surrounding environment.
He noted that his line of vision was “pretty grainy in most lighting conditions.”
Additionally, he observed a difficulty in identifying different elements on the screen due to “huge black edges” along the perimeter that blur and distort “10 to 20 percent” of his line of vision.
Projecting the MacBook onto his headset, he then noticed that the icons at the bottom of the screen were difficult to decipher.
Goodbye Vision Pro?
After the initial enthusiastic reviews on the latest luxury item, many of the “pioneers” now appear to be giving it a try buyer's remorse.
Once tested for a few days, problems surfaced regarding its wearability, its tendency to cause motion sickness and, above all, its high price.
Recently, Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman expressed a critical view of Apple's headset, calling it “more a preview of the future than the future itself” and described it as “essentially a prototype” for which users must pay for the privilege of testing it.
VR headsets represent an entirely new category still in development for Apple.
It must be said that devices such as the iPad and Apple Watch met with similar responses when they were launched.
Some prominent figures in the technology sector maintain an optimistic view on the future of Vision Pro, such as OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, who even called it “the second most impressive technological product after the iPhone“.
However, there are also more skeptical voices.
Mark Zuckerberg, for example, recently published a video on Instagram criticizing the new device.
