At WWDC 2024 Apple announced Apple Intelligence, its new suite of AI features for its devices, in particular iPhone, iPad and Mac. Starting this year, Apple will therefore launch a new, more intelligent version of Siri, an image generator called Genmoji, to create personalized reactions, and access to GPT-4owhich will help Siri if she doesn’t know how to help you (always asking your permission).
In short, Apple has finally updated itself by starting to compete in a field where Google, Microsoft and other companies are already very strong, that of the latest generation artificial intelligences. As always, most of the new features announced at WWDC will arrive in the fall.
Other features of Apple’s AI
According to what Apple has said, its artificial intelligence will also be able to help the user with applications, performing various tasks. For example, you will be able to manage notifications, automatically write messages, summarize emails and do other things like that. You can also tell one app to complete an action in another, such as viewing video content or playing audio files.
The Cupertino house also wanted to ensure that its Apple Intelligence is safe from a privacy point of view and that its functions will be processed directly by the device used to keep the information private. To use it, however, you will need an A17 Pro or M-series chip.
When AI needs the cloud, it will take advantage of what Apple calls the “Private Cloud,” with the data never being held by the servers and inaccessible to Apple itself. The company is so confident in its claims that it will make verify the system by independent experts.
The announcement also confirms the rumored agreement with OpenAI for GPT-4o, which will arrive on iOS, macOS and iPadOS during 2024.
