Russian sappers clearing mined fields in the Kherson region. At the disposal of Izvestia on Thursday, March 24, a video appeared showing the process of the work of the military.
On the footage, you can see special vehicles that disable mines. Machines mainly operate in the field, in large spaces.
In addition to equipment, foot detachments work in the region. They move in small groups and clear less powerful projectiles along the roads. Each soldier in such a team has special equipment, red flags to indicate the location of a mine, and a protective heavy suit.
Earlier, on March 18, Izvestia correspondent Linar Ginatullin showed the work of Russian sappers in the Chernihiv region in Ukraine. He said that residents of one of the villages in the region asked the sappers to check the territory. According to them, after the shelling of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), many unexploded mines remained in the village.
Earlier, on March 9, Russian sappers neutralized an unexploded ordnance in the Chernihiv region. It was noted that the shell hit directly into the yard of a resident of one of the villages near Chernihiv.
On February 24, Russia launched an operation to protect civilians in the Donbass. As Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov clarified at the time, the special operation has two goals – the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine. According to him, both of these aspects pose a threat to the Russian state and people. The Russian side also emphasized that it does not hatch plans for the occupation of Ukraine, and strikes are carried out only on the military infrastructure of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The situation in the region escalated significantly in mid-February due to shelling by the Ukrainian military. The authorities of the Donetsk and Luhansk republics announced the evacuation of residents to the Russian Federation. On February 21, Vladimir Putin signed a decree recognizing the independence of the DPR and LPR, as well as treaties on friendship, cooperation and mutual assistance. The documents were ratified the next day.
