The German company Apollo presented the EVsion S electric hypercar, powered by an unprecedented powertrain, and the Project Evo, a thermal hypercar capable of rivaling the models proposed by the most famous companies at the China International Import Expo in 2021
Apollo Automobil, the German company formerly known as Gumpert, enters the luxury electric car sector by presenting the concept of a new battery-powered sedan at the China International Import Expo in 2021. Called EVision S, it should arrive on the market by 2023. Apollo’s main business is that of a company providing outsourced engineering services to customers including Audi, BMW, General Motors, Honda, Lamborghini and Volkswagen. It also produces the Intensa Emozione V12 hypercar in Germany and at very low volumes.
Polarizing aesthetics
–
Described as a “progressive showcase of Apollo Automobil’s vision in the future of electric mobility,” the EVision S concept has sinuous lines with a stylistic language that the company calls Fast Forward. The profile is that of a modern coupé, with distinctive details such as the taillights; it is more than five meters long and over 200 cm wide. While Apollo hasn’t revealed the technical details yet, development of a new dual 800V silicon carbide (SiC) inverter is continuing in collaboration with Japanese electronics manufacturer Rohm. This inverter will be coupled to two 800V axial flux electric motors, as part of the modular electric drive presented in Shanghai. This powetrain, in addition to being destined for future Apollo powertrains, will be offered to third parties.
Even the EVsion X
–
The EVision S will be followed by the Vision X, a luxury electric SUV capable of rivaling the Mercedes EQS. Both EVs will be produced in China by the end of 2023.
Project Evo, an exclusive hypercar
–
Apollo also showed the Project Evo at the China International Import Expo in Shanghai. It is a hypercar with shapes as sharp as a blade. The surfaces are extremely dynamic with polarizing details such as the “X” shaped taillights with several lines of detached LEDs.
