With the end of the public health emergency, emergency authorizations granted to vaccines and medicines may be affected.
Anvisa (National Health Surveillance Agency) sent a letter to the Ministry of Health to request 15 working days to analyze the necessary changes in normative acts related to the covid-19 pandemic.
According to the agency, the deadline is a response to the ministry’s request for Anvisa to “assess the easing of the emergency situation imposed by the Covid 19 pandemic”.
The document was sent on Friday (12.Apr.2022) when the Minister of Health, Marcelo Queiroga, signed the ordinance on the end of Espin (Public Health Emergency of National Importance). The measure was implemented on February 3, 2020 to carry out actions to combat the coronavirus.
Without Espin, emergency authorizations granted to vaccines and medicines against covid-19, such as CoronaVac, and even public purchases, could be affected.
The agency says theterm is prudent so that we can proceed with the timely adjustment of the approximately 30 acts identified as relevant to be maintained, regardless of the decision regarding the alteration of Espin“.
