Increase was 42% compared to the previous year; growth in the number of trips and digitalization of services are among the reasons
A Anvisa (National Health Surveillance Agency) issued around 570,775 international vaccination certificates in 2023. The increase was 42% compared to 2022, caused by the increase in travel and the concentration of service through the service portal Gov.br. The information is from the agency’s management report released this Monday (May 6, 2024).
The issuance of the CIVP (International Certificate of Vaccination and Prophylaxis) was one of the legacies of the covid pandemic, with the digitalization of services that were provided in person. From 2023 onwards, citizens were able to issue the certificate through ConecteSUS (which became the My Digital SUS), in addition to issuing certificates for vaccines against meningitis and polio. Here’s the complete of the document (PDF – kB).
Regarding certificate requests, 302,518 (53%) were analyzed by 5 Anvisa servers, currently coordinated by a centralized unit, which carry out the service within 5 working days. The other 268,257 (47%) were analyzed automatically, where the result comes out in a maximum of 1 hour.
Upon undergoing analysis, 13,563 requests were denied by the agency due to lack of batch information, doses applied in fractions, incomplete or non-existent records on the proof of vaccination presented.
The CIVP is a document that proves vaccination against Yellow Fever or other diseases, defined by the WHO (World Health Organization). The certificate is therefore necessary for entry into some territories.
