Mexico City.- This Wednesday the head of the Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, Rosa Icela Rodríguez, delivered to the Senate of the Republic, the Report Annual Activities 2021 of the National Guard, in which the great work of this authority regarding the attention to the serious problem of insecurity and violence was highlighted.
In this sense, it was highlighted that during the 2021 exercise, the elements of the National Guard carried out various public security actions, which was recorded 125 events where deadly force was used with firearms and only in one case was excessive use of force determined.
As mentioned in the report, these actions were carried out in accordance with the objectives and strategies that emanate from the National Strategy for Public Security to deal with security incidents that occurred in the national territory.
Results
Through these security actions, the National Guard reported that 8,258 people were arrested; 6,485 cars reported stolen were recovered; 7,658 cars were secured for committing a crime.
In addition to this, 166,230,540 pesos, 7,757,068 US dollars and 336,657 euros were seized.
There was also the seizure of 1,045 handguns and 799 long guns, in addition to the seizure of more than 21,000 kilograms of various drugs, including cocaine, marijuana and crystal.
During the delivery of the report to the Senate authorities, Rosa Icela Rodríguez highlighted that the National Guard is the largest and most powerful peacekeeping force in Mexico due to its number of elements and the coverage they have at the national level.
“We are very satisfied with what the National Guard has done in this period, with a territorial deployment throughout the country that has allowed it, in a short time, to gain the trust and approval of the population.

“This is so, because according to INEGI measurements, in the National Survey of Victimization and Perception of Security (ENVIPE) 2021, which measures the level of trust of the authorities, 82.8 percent of Mexicans trust the National Guard ”, the secretary said.
