The veteran American producer and musician, Andy Paley, author of songs for popular series such as spongebob or the US version of Digimonhas died at the age of 72.
The musician, who worked with a wide range of artistsamong them Brian Wilson, Ramones, Madonna, Jonathan Richman, Elton John, Deborah Harry or NRBQ, died after being recently diagnosed with cancer, according to Varietywhich cites its representative as a source.
Originally from Albany in upstate New York, Paley started playing music at 7 years old and was a drummer in local bands before moving to Boston in the early ’70s, where he formed Catfish Black, the group later renamed the Sidewinders. Musicians from The Modern Lovers participated in the band, including Jerry Harrison, who would later become a member of the Talking Heads.
With his younger brother, Jonathan, formed the popular combo the Paley Brothersand went on to perform as an opening act for stars such as Patti Smith and Shaun Cassidy, before appearing in the Ramones film Rock ‘N’ Roll High School.
He also worked in the composing music for film and television with themes for soundtracks in Dick Tracy, A Walk on the Moon, wild orchid either Harlem Raidadds Variety.
