You say Andretti and you immediately think of the world of motorsport. Whatever the category, on either side of the Atlantic Ocean, a member of the quintessential ‘family’ of American motoring has raced and won. Now the new, great ambition of Michael Andretti – son of the legendary Mario – would be to bring his team, Andretti Global, into the golden world of F1. The very ambitious ‘landing’, in the plans of the American manager, is expected as early as next year, but it seems almost impossible to achieve. Several teams already present in F1, starting with Mercedes and its team principal Toto Wolff in fact, they were rather reluctant to give a chance to enter what would be the second team to fly the US flag on the grid.
Andretti, however, does not seem willing to give up and so, aware of how important politics can be within the paddock, he is trying to build alliances. A first help could come from Alpine. In fact, the French team had already shown itself open to welcoming the legacy of the Andretti family in the Circus in more than one public communication. In Montreal the link between the two sides became even more evident, with the Enstone team inviting the 59-year-old executive from Pennsylvania as a guest to follow the GP. However, it is difficult to imagine if the support of the Losanga house will be enough to overcome the resistance of a considerable part of the grid.
