Next Monday, October 28, at 12:30 p.m., the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, will present the XX ‘Diario Madrid’ Journalism Award to the renowned writer and columnist Andrés Trapiello. The ceremony will take place at the headquarters of the Diario Madrid Foundation (c/ Larra, 14) and will be attended by prominent personalities from the world of journalism and culture.
The event will be chaired by Manuel Vincentwho also chairs the jury that awarded the award, and will have the intervention of Rafa Latorre, director of ‘La Brújula’, on Onda Cero, who will offer the laudatio in honor of the winner. The jury included personalities such as Miguel Ángel Aguilar, president of the Diario Madrid Foundation, and writers and journalists such as Nativel Preciado and Román Orozco.
The jury highlighted Trapiello’s extensive career in its ruling, underlining “his commitment to literary journalism and his dedication to letters, history and freedom.” The man from Leon, known for his newspaper ‘Salón de Pasos Perdidos’, has also collaborated with media such as ABC, ‘El País’ and ‘La Vanguardia’. Among his most notable works are the novel The Friends of the Perfect Crime, with which he won the Nadal Prize, and several books of poetry.
Currently, Trapiello is a columnist for the newspaper ‘El Mundo’ and has just published the novel ‘They ask me to return’, in which Madrid is once again a key setting. The Diario Madrid Journalism Prize is endowed with 12,000 euros and a bronze bas-relief, the work of sculptor Julio López Hernández.
In previous editions, this award has been awarded to figures such as Javier Marías, Carmen Aristegui and Mario Vargas Llosa.
