An Israeli court ruled this Thursday that the former Mexican diplomat, Andrés Roemerwho has been accused of sexual abuse and rape in Mexico, is extraditable.
Roemer, former consul general in San Francisco and ambassador to UNESCO, was arrested in Israel last year following the extradition request presented by Mexico since 2021.
The Israeli Ministry of Justice was announced has not indicated when extradition could occursince it is the minister who must sign the extraditions.
For now, the Jerusalem District Court ordered that Roemer be placed under house arrest with an electronic anklet, according to the sentence seen by Reuters.
The former television host fled to Israel in 2021, but was arrested on October 2, 2023 in that country by the Israeli police, following the extradition order requested by the Government of Mexico for five cases in which he is accused of sexual abuse.
This after in February of that year, more than a dozen women accused him of sexual abuse and inappropriate behavior, while the The group Periodistas Unidas Mexicanas (PUM) collected more than 60 complaints.
In 2022, the Interpol also issued a red card to search and arrest the diplomat.accused of meeting his alleged victims at his home with work excuses and then touching and making advances and, finally, offering them money.
