This Thursday, the pilgrim image of the Virgen de los Desamparados began its journey through the municipalities of Valencia affected by DANA, one month after the flood. The image moved on Thursday through Paiporta, Picanya and Torrent, integrated into the XII archpriestship ‘Mare de Déu del Popul’.
As indicated by the Archbishopric in a statement, after visiting the parish of La Inmaculada de Paiporta, the Virgin left for the parish of San Ramón, where the Rosary was prayed and a supplication for the deceased took place.
This Friday, after a farewell mass in Paiporta at 12:00 p.m., the Virgin’s tour through the streets with the ‘Maremóvil’ will leave for Picanya at 2:45 p.m., where it will tour the municipality. The virgin will then move towards Torrent and subsequently, the image will be carried, either on shoulders or in the Maremóvil, to the esplanade of the Fuente San Luis, where another moment of prayer and remembrance for the deceased will also take place.
Next, the Mare de Déu will be taken in the Maremóvil through the polygon to the Xenillet bridge, with prayer and remembrance for the deceased, and then it will be taken to the parish of Buen Consejo, where the farewell Mass of the visit will be celebrated in around 8:00 p.m.
The images of the Virgin being transported through the DANA municipalities have been commented on online by several users.

The Vicar of Evangelization of the Archdiocese of Valencia and rector of the Basilica of the Virgin of the Forsaken, Melchor Seguí, explained that, from the first days after the catastrophe, “requests began to occur, not only through social networks, but directly to the Basilica entities, from people from the affected areas requesting the visit and presence of the Virgin.”
“This is a very special, very emotional visit, one month after the DANA, precisely in the most devastated area, and where the most has been suffered,” highlighted Seguí, who added that the image of the Mare de Déu “It is available and everything is prepared from the Basilica, too, for when there are more requests.”
