The Emirates Health Services Corporation has introduced a new technology to predict patients’ absence from their appointments, as part of its strategy that is based on proactive adoption of many innovative technologies, to establish future patient-centered care models.
The Foundation explained to Emirates Today that the smart “medical appointments” algorithm technology predicts the extent of patients’ commitment to attending their medical appointments. It has been applied in more than 130 health facilities affiliated with the Foundation, as this model based on artificial intelligence predicts the possibility of patients not attending their appointments. According to a number of criteria studied, including the patient’s frequent absence from previous appointments.
The innovative technology provides the organization’s facilities with the opportunity to implement proactive measures to reduce cases of non-attendance and improve appointment scheduling, which contributes to allocating the date and timing of the absent client’s appointment for the benefit of another patient, and enhancing the resource allocation process, as all primary health care centers have a supported information panel. Using artificial intelligence, it monitors patient numbers and predicts waiting times in real time, thus giving an immediate overview of cases of congestion or lack of resources to facilitate efficient management of operations and redistribution of resources when needed.
The Director of Data and Statistics Department at the Foundation, Dr. Sarah Al-Shaya, confirmed that the Foundation has adopted this technology, in addition to creating and developing many technologies that rely on artificial intelligence and data analysis, in confirmation of the Foundation’s commitment to creating a qualitative shift in the health care sector, by enhancing the prevention of… diseases, and providing health services according to international standards, in addition to using the latest technological technologies and artificial intelligence techniques, with the aim of focusing on the patient as a first priority.
She pointed out that the Foundation has introduced another program, “Predicting an Emergency Patient’s Stay,” which is an innovative technical program based on artificial intelligence and uses a prediction algorithm, as it aims to help hospitals and medical teams make decisions based on a number of evidence and standards during different stages of care. Emergency, which aims to enhance patient outcomes, facilitate hospital operations, and improve resource allocation.
The predictive capabilities of this algorithm help in anticipating the appropriate time for patients to move from the emergency department to the inpatient department. This proactive approach also contributes to making more effective and timely interventions and enhancing the overall efficiency in providing health care services in the facilities of the Emirates Health Services Corporation.
It is worth noting that the corporation recently unveiled advanced smart services, most notably an advanced platform for managing enterprise data, analytics, and artificial intelligence, which aims to facilitate and accelerate the decision-making process, based on artificial intelligence technology, data, and evidence, to enhance proactiveness in confronting the spread of diseases and assess the possibility of infection and its seriousness.
The organization confirmed that it always seeks to integrate sophisticated, advanced and smart solutions, to achieve excellence in providing health services in the region.
