The cafe of which rapper Lil Kleine is the face, pulls its hands off him on Monday because of the suspicion of an attempted serious assault on his fiancée Jamie Vaes. The Amsterdam party café ‘t Lammetje has “suspended the promotional activities of Lil Kleine for the time being”, the owner of the café Leon Poppes told ANP news agency on Monday.
Images recently circulated on social media of Jorik Scholten, the real name of Lil Kleine, who drags his fiancée from a car and clamps it between the car door. He was detained for a few days last week, but is free to await the investigation into the case. The Public Prosecution Service appealed against the release and still suspects him of assault. ‘t Lammetje “strongly disapproves of the incident”, the cafe said.
On Sunday, Sony Music already announced that it would immediately stop the collaboration with Lil Kleine. Record company TopNotch, where the rapper was previously under contract, also announced that it no longer wanted anything to do with him. Radio station FunX decided to stop playing its music and streaming platform Spotify removed the music from its editorial playlists.
In 2018, catering entrepreneurs Leon and Darwin Poppes opened café ‘t Lammetje in Amsterdam’s Lange Leidsedwarsstraat, near Leidseplein. Lil Kleine, who is friends with the brothers, was the promotional face of the cafe. ‘Cosy until the late hours with Lil ‘Kleine’, is still on Monday evening the website of the party cafe with a photo of the rapper in the cafe. Those images seem to belong to the past for the time being.
