The Danish side does not provide any information regarding the investigation into the explosions on the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines, and this raises questions, Russian Ambassador to Denmark Vladimir Barbin said on Sunday, February 5.
The diplomat pointed out that Copenhagen does not cooperate with the Russian side in this matter. At present, the Danish side does not provide any information on the progress and results of the investigation of sabotage.
“In this regard, the closeness of the investigation raises many legitimate questions,” Barbin said in an interview with “RIA News”.
He added that today it is universally recognized that explosions on gas pipelines were carefully prepared. However, the preparation of such sabotage, which was carried out in the exclusive economic zones of Denmark and Sweden, requires time and direct presence in the area of sabotage.
As the diplomat stressed, Russia, unlike other countries, did not have permits to conduct any underwater work or research there.
Leaks at Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 were discovered on September 26, 2022. The next day, the Swedish Security Service confirmed the explosions in the area of the pipelines. Traces of explosives were found at the crash site.
The investigation was taken up by Denmark, Sweden and Germany, in the area of responsibility of which the attacks occurred. Russia was not allowed to investigate.
On February 1, The Times, citing sources, reported that in recent months the investigation into the incidents had made little progress and investigators had not discovered any new facts. At the same time, as indicated in the publication, in Germany they admit that one of the Western countries is behind the explosions at the joint venture.
On December 22, Russian President Vladimir Putin, answering a question from an Izvestia correspondent, said that the accidents at Nord Stream were an act of state terrorism. He urged to look for the guilty among those who benefited from the destruction by the pipeline.
