The new coronavirus pandemic gripped amaranth at his best musical moment, a few weeks after having celebrated his fourth anniversary in style at the Santa Rosa complex. Instead of denting its popularity, the group of singer Karina Benites Franco has achieved great achievements thanks to social networks. Two years later, the tunantera orchestra seeks to celebrate its six years of foundation in a grand way.

The singer born in Lima, who plays wanka music, was happy because will share the stage with great artists, such as Jean Pierre Magnet and Mauricio Mesones, with whom he will perform a feat this Sunday, February 20, at the Arena Perú (next to the Jockey Plaza). Artists such as Condemayta de Acomayo, Urbande and typical orchestras from the Mantaro Valley will also be recognized. Tickets for the show can be found at Teleticket de Wong and Metro.
Amaranta is a group that performs music from the Peruvian and Latin American Andes. It was created in the city of Lima in January 2015 and its first voice is Karina Benites Franco, a singer with Ayacuchan roots.
Amaranta, a success on YouTube
Amaranta has significant roots in social networks and millions of views on the YouTube platform, which has allowed her to make a large call at her different concerts nationwide, presented before the pandemic.
Karina Benites assures that during the pandemic their presence in digital media was enhanced, especially on YouTube, where they have more than 220,000 followers. “In the category that we are in, we are the ones with the largest number of subscribers. Really, technology has been preponderant -for us-, it has helped us to reach youth much better”.
Amaranth’s path
The group is very popular in Peru and Andean countries such as Bolivia, Ecuador, Chile and Argentina, which it plans to visit in 2022. In addition to the tunantada, cultural heritage of Peru, they perform huaynos, huaylarsh, caporales, etc.
To date, Amaranta has recorded three albums. The first with the title Amaranta – Generaciones, the second Amaranta live and the third Bailemos, all recorded between 2016 and 2018.
On December 14, 2020, they were decorated by the Congress of the Republic of Peru due to their outstanding work in the dissemination and modernization of traditional Andean music, being one of the few musical groups to spread the essence of the popular Andean songbook.
A year later, the group represented Peru in Mexico at the most important fair in Latin America, FIL Guadalajara 2021, held from November 27 to 30.
