Alpine skiing Mikaela Shiffrin fell to the World Cup for the 70th time

The United States Mikaela Shiffrin was the fastest in the opening competition of the Alpine Skiing World Cup in Sölden, Austria.

Shiffrin won the women’s slalom by 0.14 seconds from Switzerland To Lara Gut-Behram. Slovakia won the World Cup last season Petra Vlhova was third.

After the opening bill, Shiffrin was second, led by Gut-Behram. The race was lowered on the Rettenbach Glacier at an altitude of about 3,000 meters.

Shiffrin won the World Cup three times in a row until 2019. Then he had a nightmare season when his father died unexpectedly, a corona pandemic messed up the race calendar and he suffered from back problems.

Shiffrin missed out for the first time in 2019–20 in years. Last season, he won three Cup races.

Erika Pykäläinen was 60th at Söden’s mc opening.
