UEFA has announced the group of 89 referees for the Euro 2024 which will be held this summer in Germany.
The group is made up of 19 referees (including one from South America), 38 assistants, 12 fourth referees and 20 VAR match officials, who will oversee the 51 matches of the tournament.
“All of the chosen referees have consistently performed at the highest level in UEFA's top competitions, and also in their national competitions. They have prepared exceptionally well to be in this position and we have full confidence in them to demonstrate their quality in the final tournament,” said Roberto Rosetti, UEFA's director general of refereeing.

UEFA made history at Euro 2020 when Stephanie Frappart became the first woman to be part of the referee list for a European Championship, to later referee at the 2022 World Cup. But this time there is no woman on the roster. UEFA selection.
Spain will have Jesús Gil Manzano as the only main referee in Germany, in what will be its first Euro Cup. The Extremaduran referee has been refereeing in the First Division for 12 seasons and 10 as an international player. In Europe he has refereed 22 Champions League matches, including the semi-final of the 2022/23 season between Milan and Inter.
Bjorn Kuipers, who refereed the Euro 2020 final three years ago, is not in the group after retiring shortly after that tournament. Meanwhile, Poland's Szymon Marciniak, who coached last season's Champions League final, will be among the contenders to reach this summer's final.
For the second consecutive European Championship, a refereeing team from Argentina will join the other European referees in Germany, as part of the ongoing collaboration between UEFA and CONMEBOL.

Euro 2024 will be the second in which VAR will be used and UEFA has selected 20 referees from across the continent to supervise it. The governing body hopes that VAR will be implemented well and not be a source of controversy as is often the case in club football.
