The German car market continues to show no signs of recovery. Also in November, sales of new cars in the German country have collapsed: -31.7% registrations in November 2021 compared to the same month last year, a decrease dictated once again by the microchip and semiconductor crisis that does not leave the four-wheel sector alone. The only positive note concerns the segment of electrified cars, which has shown growth of 39% compared to November 2020 thanks to over 40,000 cars marketed.
Of the 35 leading car brands operating on the German market, only 5 closed the month of November positively: who did better in terms of growth was Tesla with + 234%, ahead of Polestar (+ 105%) with the latter which, however, still maintains a relatively very low market share; Subaru, Mitsubishi and Mini close the top 5, with a double-digit increase in sales with the exception of the German brand which just exceeded 9%. All the other major car manufacturers, on the other hand, closed the month of November with a minus sign: the most consistent collapses they were in fact registered by Mazda with -59%, Ford with -55%, Nissan with -49%, Citroen with -47.5% and Jaguar with -46%.
And the Italian brands? Fiat and Alfa Romeo confirmed their decline, but still manage to contain the damage. A rather simple “feat” for the car manufacturer from Biscione, which in November gained an insignificant market share of 0.1% in Germany, and despite this recorded a decline of 0.1%. Figures a little more consistent for Fiat, which registered a decrease of 16.9% in the eleventh month of the year. In the cumulative since the beginning of the yearOn the other hand, German registrations of Alfa Romeo decreased by 0.7% compared to the same period of 2020, while those of Fiat showed a decrease of 3.8%. In short, there are those who have done worse, but this cannot be enough to make Italian brands smile in Germany.
