Alexia Putellas has spoken out about the Rubiales case in an interview in ‘El Larguero’ of the SER Chain in relation to the documentary “It’s over”, which will be released on Netflix next Friday, November 1. The Barça player herself and the rest of the members of the ’15’ team give their version of what happened during the World Cup celebration and in the run-up to the competition. The double Ballon d’Or winner also reviews her time at Barça and her future plans.
The Spanish international explained the reasons for the documentary and her opinion on the matter. “It makes me uncomfortable because of the love I have for this sport. This documentary was recorded a year ago when the topic before the World Cup happened, the topic of 15. We didn’t know or it wasn’t the time to explain; The World Cup was coming and it was not the time to cause instability. I felt, and I think we all felt, that people did not understand very well what had happened prior to the World Cup. It was recorded later to close everything. In that documentary each one will come out thinking what they felt. The documentary will be there for anyone who needs that explanation,” declared the midfielder.
“The documentary makes me uncomfortable because of the love I have for this sport.”
On the other hand, the Blaugrana clarifies if at any point she has envisioned leaving the club. “I haven’t seen myself outside of Barça. When I don’t feel like I have the energy, I’ll be the first to raise my hand and walk away. The commitment I have to the club of my life is to give my all every training session and every game. If it were not like that, I will be the first to say it,” clarified the Catalan.
“I haven’t seen myself outside of Barça.”
“I would understand the doubts if they had existed at Barça. I could understand that part about them saying I’ve been injured and they’re not sure if I’ll get back to my level. But hey, it has been shown that they believed in me and renewed me. Now it’s my turn to respond on the field,” adds the midfielder.
Alexia Putellas has also made her prediction of the next Ballon d’Or winner. “Honestly, I hope it’s someone from my team, but I think it’s between Caro and Aitana.” “I hope he stays at my club, at FC Barcelona. I would make three of my team, for sure, Caro and Aitana would be there… I wouldn’t vote for third because it hasn’t been my best year. I hope he stays in Barcelona; I don’t know who is going to win it of the two,” predicts the native of Mollet del Vallès.
“Age in the end is a number, my ambition is intact.”
On the other hand, the winner of three Champions Leagues plays down the importance of being the most experienced player for Barça and the national team. “I am the great veteran in the club and in the national team, and I am only 30 years old… I talk to Torrejón and he tells me ‘sister, you have been around for a long time’ and he is right. That is good because it means that there is a future and what is present. Age in the end is a number, it is the energy you have, the desire, the ambition and that is something that I have intact,” explains the Blaugrana.
The scorer of 7 goals this season also referred to her nice gesture with a girl who had a dream that the Catalan would sign the ball she was carrying in her arms. “I wanted to meet that fan at the end of training and she started crying… everyone wants the National Team to win even though she was wearing the Atleti shirt, this is the National Team and I had to have that detail,” explained Alexia Putellas.
