Martin puts the arrow
Jorge Martin he overtook Francesco Bagnaia today in the Drivers’ standings. The Ducati Pramac rider won his fourth consecutive Sprint at Mandalika in Indonesia and now has a seven-point advantage over the reigning world champion who today did not go higher than eighth in the final position. Tomorrow the starting grid will be identical, with Jorge Martin on the second row in sixth position and Francesco Bagnaia forced to start from fifth from the 13th spot.
Today Martin once again made the difference despite not having a great superiority over his opponents on paper. An aspect underlined by Aleix Espargarò, who, like Marc Marquez, believes that Martinator is experiencing one state of grace which allows him to be very fast in all conditions.
Aleix Espargarò and the Martin steamroller
“I am very happy for Jorge Martin. It’s in steamroller mode. I think she didn’t have a good pace here in Indonesia today, so it’s even more impressive what she did. It’s fantastic and I’m really happy for him.” declared the Aprilia rider as reported by the Spanish newspaper AS.
Pol Espargarò and the difficulty of being the ‘hare’
“The input you get from the press and the team is much more positive when you chase. On the contrary, all the inputs that the person being chased receives are negative: ‘if he will catch you, if he will beat you, if you will lose the title’. I think this year the title will go to Jorge“the opinion of the GasGas driver who next season will be forced to ‘bench’ in the role of test driver to make room for the confirmed Augusto Fernandez and the debutant Pedro Acosta.
