Pramac-Martin, end of a cycle
Together since 2021, the pairing between Jorge Martin and the Pramac team is destined to end at the end of the current season. The Spanish rider has repeatedly reiterated that he considers himself worthy – with evident results in hand – of a seat in the official team and therefore if Ducati is not willing to dress it in red, it will turn its attention elsewhere, with KTM, Aprilia and Honda more interested spectators than ever.
Despite having a fully official bike, Martin wants the factory team and to convince the Ducati management he is having a dazzling start to 2024, which is seeing him escape in the standings with a 38 point gap over the first of his pursuers, Pecco Bagnaia.
Martin’s rivals for the Lenovo Ducati team – as is known – are mainly Marc Marquez and secondarily Enea Bastianini.
The Marquez-Pramac hypothesis
Ducati is therefore thinking deeply about having the best arrangement that can allow her to keep both Martin and Marquez with her. One of the most discussed scenarios in the last Le Mans weekend is the one that sees Martin alongside Bagnaia in the official team and Marc Marquez in Pramac with the GP25 identical in every way to the official ones. A hypothesis to which the Spaniard also seemed open, who not surprisingly spoke of “official motorbike” without distinctions of brand or team.
And in this sense the declarations of Pramac sports director, Fonsi Nieto, issued to compatriots of Brandseem to open the doors wide upon the arrival of the eight-time world champion: “It wouldn’t be bad at all. Imagine what it could mean for us as a team to have Marc Marquez with us, we get goosebumps just thinking about it. We are in a very good situation.”
