Abu Dhabi (Etihad)
Al-Ahly of Egypt qualified for the semi-finals of the FIFA Club World Cup, currently being hosted by Abu Dhabi, when it overthrew Mexico’s Monterrey with a goal, this evening, “Saturday”, in the second round match of the championship, which took place at Al Nahyan Stadium in Al Wahda Club. The goal came in the 53rd minute after A missile “shoot” from Mohamed Hani, to play the “Red Genie” with the Brazilian Palmeiras in the “Golden Square” next Tuesday.
Al-Ahly played the Monterrey match without 14 main players, between injuries and participation with the national team in the African Nations Cup, but the “Al-Ahmar” youth confirmed their ingenuity and presented a historic match.
Al-Ahly made a good first half, and missed many opportunities that were enough to advance, as the great cohesion appeared on the Egyptian team, which took advantage of the large spaces in the Monterrey defense, and Hussein Al-Shahat could score, in one of the most dangerous opportunities in the 39th minute, and before that a chance for Taher Mohammed Taher.
On the other hand, Monterrey took advantage of his danger by playing from both sides of the field, but without a great danger to Al-Ahly’s goal, except in some cases in the middle of the half.
In the second half, the African champion continued his brilliance, and intensified his launches until the 53rd minute, when Mohamed Hani scored a global goal, becoming the sixth player from Al-Ahly to score a goal in the World Cup.
Al-Ahly coach Musimani tried to take advantage of the experience element in the team, to push Walid Suleiman, who tried to calm the stadium, in the presence of a large Egyptian crowd that filled the stands.
