After a video went viral on TikTok, restaurant chain Hooters backtracked on its new uniform policy. Now employees will be able to choose which version they want to use. The new shorts created by the network were compared to “underwear”, given the tiny size.
The restaurant, which is famous for its tight-fitting staff uniforms, unveiled the new models this month. Since the launch of the shorter shorts, employees have been demonstrating against the uniform. However, a viral video TikTok, viewed more than 26 million times, caused the controversy to end up on several US news sites, which caused the company to reconsider its decision.

The attire, which many claimed could not be considered “shorts,” also raised concerns about possible risks of health code violations. In a statement released by Business Insider, the company said the Hooters Girls will be able to determine based on their “body style and personal image” which style of shorts they want to wear.
Also according to the statement, the new shorts model was “the result of a collaboration with the Hooters Girls”. According to the text, the uniform was worn for months in various Texas markets and had a positive response from both employees and the public.
