Police in Bulgaria arrested five people accused of helping carry out the alleged terrorist act in Istanbul.
Sofia/Instanbul – According to the alleged Terrorist attack on Istiklal shopping street in the Turkish city of Istanbul last Sunday (November 13), the number of those arrested increased to 22. This is reported by the German press agency. According to this, almost a week after the attack, five people who allegedly supported the act were arrested in Bulgaria.
As the spokeswoman for the Bulgarian Attorney General, Sijka Milewa, confirmed to a Bulgarian radio station on Saturday, those arrested were accused of “assisting the likely perpetrator of the act of terrorism”. The suspects are said to be the prime suspects in the Turkey was arrested with logistical and communications assistance, Milewa said.

When a bomb exploded on the busy shopping street on Sunday, six people were killed and more than 80 injured. Turkish authorities identified the Syrian Kurdish militia YPG and the banned Kurdish Workers’ Party PKK as responsible. Both groups have denied the allegations.
According to the Turkish police, the main suspect is a Syrian citizen who is said to have said that she acted on instructions. Details on those arrested in Bulgaria are not yet available – inquiries from media representatives, for example about the nationality of those arrested or how they got to Bulgaria, have so far remained unanswered.
