Aeroflot CEO Mikhail Poluboyarinov will soon step down from his post and from the airline, a source in the group told Izvestiya on Thursday, March 10.
“Formally, he [Михаил Полубояринов — Ред.] has not left, but will leave soon,” the source said.
Aeroflot will now be managed by the general director of its subsidiary carrier, Rossiyai, Sergei Aleksandrovsky. He has already begun to fulfill the duties of the head, the source of Izvestia specified.
“The company confirms that Sergei Aleksandrovsky has been appointed Deputy General Director of Aeroflot in order to strengthen the team to coordinate anti-crisis measures. Aeroflot PJSC does not have documents on other management decisions, ”the press service of the carrier told Izvestia.
According to RBCPoluboyarinov can go to work at the Russian Post as deputy general director of the company.
Russian Post declined to comment.
On March 4, it became known about another resignation in the Aeroflot group – then Andrey Kalmykov, the head of the Pobeda low-cost airline, resigned. According to the top manager, the decision was not easy, he will develop other projects. In new cases, he will be able to “be more useful in the current conditions,” Kalmykov believes.
He has led the company since its inception. Since June 2014, Kalmykov was the general director of the Dobrolet airline, after the imposition of sanctions against which, in September of the same year, he headed the then-new Pobeda.
Andrey Yurikov, deputy general director, became the interim acting general director of Pobeda.
Aeroflot has suspended all international flights since March 8. Pobeda canceled all flights to Europe on February 28 amid the European Union’s ban on Russian aircraft landing, taking off or flying over the territory of EU member states.

Russia faced new sanctions after the start of the operation to protect the Donbass, the beginning of which was announced on February 24 by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
