Although the caricature of adventure time came to an end in 2018, the Land of Ooo has expanded through different spin-offs, such as Distant Lands and Fionna & Cake. According to Variety, Cartoon Network and Warner Bros. have approved the production of an animated film Adventure timewhich will feature the talents of Rebecca Sugar, creator of Steven Universe, Patrick McHale, co-creator of Over the Garden Wall, and Adam Muto, showrunner of adventure time. Unfortunately, the details of this project are unknown at the moment.
Considering the team involved in this film, it is very likely that we will see a continuation of the animated series, with a much more mature tone, similar to what was presented to us with Distant Lands and Fionna & Cake. Although it seems that the film adventure time It will be the evolution that all fans have been waiting for, the other two series will abandon this audience to focus on children.
The first of these two series is named after Adventure Time: Side Quests. This is a prequel that takes place before the original events, where we will see Finn and Jake once again in a series of adventures that will try to capture the childlike essence of the first episodes. Here we will not see the narrative approach that has characterized the property so much, but rather contained adventures with some new faces and others already known.
The second animated series is known as Adventure Time: Heyo BMOwhich is focused on the preschool audience, and will star BMO. After settling into a new neighborhood, BMO and a group of new friends will face challenges that are more appropriate for younger viewers. Two-time Emmy winner and Adventure Time writer Adam Muto and storyboard artist Ashlyn Anstee are attached to the project.
At the moment there is no information on a release date for any of these three productions.
