American actor Alan Rachinsknown for having played lawyer Douglas Brackman Jr. in the series for 13 seasons The Law of Los Angelesdied this Saturday at the age of 82.
As stated The Hollywood ReporterRachins died in his sleep due to heart failure in the early morning hours in the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center from Los Angeles, as revealed by his wife, actress Joanna Frank.
Alan Rachins appeared in all but one of the 172 episodes of the series produced by 20th Century Fox, which aired for eight seasons (1986-94), and received Emmy and Golden Globe nominations for her work in 1988.
Rachins is also remembered for playing Tony Mossthe cruel toupee-wearing director of the topless dance show at the Stardust Casino, in Showgirls (1995) by Paul Verhoeven.
Alan Leonard Rachins, only child, born on October 3, 1942 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and grew up in Boston. His father, Edward, ran a food manufacturing company that made products such as ice cream toppings, flavored syrups, and cake toppings. His mother, Ida, died when he was 11 years old.
