The agency for business competitiveness of the Department of Business and Labor of the Generalitat of Catalonia (Acció) and the Barcelona Bar Association (ICAB) have signed a collaboration agreement to guarantee the protection of intellectual and industrial property ( PII) of SMEs and startups Catalan.
The collaboration agreement seeks to promote legal training specialized in intellectual and industrial property for legal professionals, in addition to committing to providing a list of trained specialists to those small and medium-sized companies (SMEs) and startups Catalans who require their services.
The starting point of this alliance is the fact that SMEs and startups Catalan companies are often at a disadvantage in the face of increasingly complex legal challenges, especially in cases of intellectual and industrial property infringement. In this sense, both organizations consider that it is necessary to provide SMEs with a greater number of legal professionals with specific training in this field.
Specifically, the training actions will focus on the areas of competition law and industrial property, and intellectual property law and image rights. On the other hand, in order to specify, develop and coordinate the specific actions derived from this agreement, a mixed coordination commission will be established, made up of four people (two designated by ACCIÓ and two designated by the ICAB).
The Secretary of Business and Competitiveness and CEO of ACCIÓ, Jaume Baró i Torres, and the Dean of the ICAB, Jesus M. Sanchez Garcia, They signed the agreement this morning at the Palauet Casades, headquarters of the legal profession. The agreement will have an initial duration of two years from the date of signing and may be extended for annual periods.
