The purpose of the visit is to discuss the security situation in Europe and to deepen co-operation between the countries, e.g. in the forestry and technology sectors.
Development cooperationand the Minister for Foreign Trade Ville Skinnari (sd) will visit from 14 to 17 June 2022 in New York and Washington.
Skinnari will meet with representatives of the U.S. administration and Congress to discuss the security situation in Europe. Skinnari will also visit the World Bank, where the financial situation of sustainable development and the role of private financing in development aid will be discussed.
Skinnari will also attend an open session of the UN Security Council in New York and meet with the UN Under-Secretary-General for Development Amina Mohammedin. During the visit, Skinnari will also meet with the management of the city of New York.
Cooperation between Finland and the United States in the forestry and bioeconomy sectors and in the technology sector will be on the agenda in Washington. The program will feature discussions on themes focusing on forests and climate change, as well as 6G technology.
